The Opportunity

This position can be based in: Panama, Colombia, El Salvador, Guatemala, or Peru.

Regional Construction and Wash Adviser

ROLE PURPOSE

The LAC Regional Construction and WASH Adviser will be expected to:

1.Implement the Construction Policy and Procedure, as per the workplan under the Global Construction Quality Framework, providing input and feedback into the change process through workstream lead.

2.Provide technical support to programmes involving WASH and Construction through review of proposals, advising on quality assurance processes and safe programming for construction.

3.Provide WASH and Construction technical support to large emergency responses in the region

To be successful, you will bring/have:

  • MA/MSc/MEng or equivalent in Architecture, Planning, Civil or Structural engineering, construction, or another relevant subject, or equivalent field experience
  • At least 7 years of professional experience in the built environment field with a focus on Public Health and experience of working in a development / humanitarian context within WASH sector
  • Experience of site supervision and project management for construction
  • Advise on international best practice for building regulations for hazard resistance in non-engineered buildings.
  • Demonstrated WASH program design, monitoring and evaluation skills, including designing pathways to sustainable impact at scale.
  • Fluent English and Spanish language skills and ability to communicate clearly in both verbal and written form.
  • Fluency French is desirable.
  • Experience of promoting quality and impact through at least one cross-cutting area: gender equality and inclusion, adaptive and safer programming; child rights; disability; migration and displacement.
  • Demonstrated ability to set up monitoring & evaluation systems in large complex programmes.
  • Proven ability of mentoring and coaching.
